WHAT TO EXPECT
We begin with breath work and a generous warm-up and end with Savasana (guided relaxation). In between we work to improve balance, strengthen and stretch our bodies and increase our body awareness. Instructions are specific and detailed. Options for modifications are always offered, available and encouraged throughout, allowing the practice to be accessible to all. This is an excellent introduction to
yoga for the novice.
YIN YOGA ~ WHAT TO EXPECT
Every 6 weeks we change it up and do Yin. (YIN YOGA dates can be found on the Schedule Tab.)
Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to our typically more
dynamic and energetic yoga. Floor postures are held passively for several minutes at a time in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep connective tissue. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints and energetically it opens the meridian system, which helps to support emotional equilibrium. The practice emphasizes stillness and silence.
