WHAT TO EXPECT
Beginning with breath work and a generous warm-up we move through a few Sun Salutations or Somatics work, linking movement with our breath. Class ends with Savasana (guided relaxation). The middle may include combinations of strength building standing poses, balancing, core work, backbending, twists, seated stretches and inversions. Options for modifications are always offered, available and encouraged throughout, allowing the practice to be accessible to all.
The last Tuesday and third Thursday of each session we change it up and do YIN YOGA. YIN is a complementary yoga practice to our typically more dynamic and energetic yoga. Floor postures are held passively for several minutes at a time in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep connective tissue. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints and energetically it opens the Chinese meridian system, which helps to support emotional equilibrium. The practice emphasizes stillness and quiet.
