WHAT TO EXPECT
Beginning with breath work and a generous warm-up we move through a few Sun Salutations, linking movement with our breath. Class ends with Savasana (guided relaxation). The middle may include combinations of strength building standing poses, balancing, core work, backbending, twists, seated stretches and inversions. Options for modifications are always offered, available and encouraged throughout, allowing the practice to be accessible to all.
One time each session (the 3rd Thursday and the 6th Tuesday) we change it up and do YIN YOGA. YIN is a complementary yoga practice to our typically more dynamic and energetic yoga. Floor postures are held passively for several minutes at a time in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep connective tissue. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints and energetically it opens the meridian system, which helps to support emotional equilibrium. The practice emphasizes stillness and silence.
TUESDAY evenings from 5:30 – 7:00 at the West Virginia Northern Community
College room 103.
THURSDAY evenings from 6:00 - 7:30 at the Academy for Dance & Theatre Arts, 263 Locust St..
Classes are $12.00 per class or $60.00
for a 6 week session for ONE class per week. OR $90.00 for TWO classess each week.
Anyone is welcome to join in any time.
